The New Zealand Supreme Court in
North Shore City Council v Body Corporate [2010] NZSC 158 (available
here) has reaffirmed the Privy Council decision of
Invercargill City Council v Hamlin in confirming that the appellant is liable for losses incurred by first and subsequent owners of "leaky homes" as a result of the appellant's negligent inspection. There is fairly extensive discussion of the relevant authorities on pure economic loss.
